| GINI HOLMES Clothing and Accessories All clothing items are made from fabrics that are individually printed. No printing is exactly the same, guaranteeing your purchase of a unique, one-of-a-kind, wearable art item. Visit my STORE Process: I use both natural and synthetic** fabrics. The fabric length is ironed to sheets of freezer paper to make them "rigid" enough for running through my Epson 7800 printer. Once printed, the fabric is (1) heat set with a heat press and (2) steamed for 3 hours in a fabric steamer. After steaming, the fabric "sets" for 48 hours to bind the inks with fibers. Finally, the fabric is washed in hot water to make the to set the colors. **I buy the synthetic fabrics from fabric "boneyards," keeping them from being tossed out Care Synthetic fabrics: Machine Wash, use Medium (Synthetic) setting when ironing. Natural fibers: All of the natural fiber items are machine washable. For longer life of silks and crepes, hand wash separately in cool water with just a drop of mild soap or shampoo. Never use bleach! Add a few drops of fabric softener or hair conditioner when rinsing to keep the soft, silky feel. Remove excess water by rolling in a towel. Iron from back while still damp with low setting, or steam iron when dry. Fabric Patterns SANDY SCOTT Jewelry I create fused glass jewelry influenced by Asian architecture and textiles from the 30's and 40's. I am constantly absorbing influences and ideas from the world around me. I work with my textile partner, Gini Holmes to create jewelry that will either compliment or "finish" the clothing. Once I get an idea, I sketch a loose design and create patterns. Using these patterns, I cut and layer the glass to create the individual components. These pieces are fused in a high temperature kiln before being assembled with silver or gold findings. I often embellish these pieces with vintage beading complimentary to the textile creations.
